Mr. Smith was born and raised in Richmond, VA; he graduated from Averett University and started his career with a small regional firm Wheat First Securities in Richmond in 1989. Wheat First eventually became First Union Securities. He then moved to Interstate Johnson Lane in Charlotte, and than firm later became Wachovia Securities. When Wachovia and First union merged Mr. Smith opened his own office with Edward D. Jones & Co. in 2002. Currently he is a Limited Partner with the firm; the office is located on E. Garrison next to Hillbilly's.
Mr Smith is married and has two daughters, Carley, age 16 and Kendall, age 14, and lives in Tega Cay, SC.
