The North Carolina Federation was organized in 1953 and affiliated with the NFRW that same year. NCFRW has five regions and 68 clubs.

The North Carolina Federation defines itself as having Spirit of Courage. Its goals are to increase the number of women seeking political office and to promote political education. The clubs raise money, provide leadership training, recruit candidates and endeavor to provide their members with the tools to help organize and operate campaigns.
