The Republican National Committee is committed to turning women into leaders! The Excellence in Public Service Series is one example of the RNC urging women to become more involved in our nation’s political process. The Excellence in Public Service Series is a political leadership development program. Started in Indiana in 1989, this program selects women who are willing to make a commitment to play an active role in the political arena. The year long series includes eight monthly session days and a three-day leadership seminar in Washington, D.C. Classes are meant to encourage, prepare and inspire women leaders to seek new levels of involvement in government and politics. The RNC has pledged to provide matching start-up funds to every state that commits to running an Excellence in Public Service Series, for at least three years. The RNC is determined to train those who are interested in launching a program in their state. The RNC will offer training sessions throughout the year and provide attendees with all necessary start-up information. There are currently Excellence in Public Service Series operating in Indiana, Illinois, New Jersey, Ohio and Pennsylvania. In addition, the state of New Hampshire is in the process of finalizing its Excellence in Public Service Series. RNC Co-Chairman Ann Wagner is confident that over the next few years every state will have a women’s leadership program in place!
